Fear is the principle that applies absolutely when all principles have become relative. In European societies, more and more people are convinced that life courses are coming up against glass ceilings. There are still opportunities for individuals to shape their own lives, but overall, a long period of social history seems to be coming to an end. Should we therefore fear policies of fear that jeopardise the free way of life? What does the mood of fear say about the transformation of society? How can we take away our own fear of fear?
Tuesday, 02. April 2019, 19:00 – 20:00 h
At Literaturhaus Zurich, Limmatquai 62, 8001 Zürich
Moderation: Dr Martin Meyer
There was a time when solidarity was a powerful word, but it fell into disrepute when everyone was made personally responsible for their own fortune and their own needs. Today, according to Bude, we need a new understanding of solidarity: Only by freely choosing human solidarity can a society be bound together.
