Jens Spahn reports on his experiences in dealing with crises and derives lessons for the future. He draws on the examples of the euro and financial crisis, the Corona crisis and the energy crisis, among others. He sees the task of becoming more sovereign in key areas as central. What must be done politically to provide for future crises and offer confidence in a new era?

Jens Spahn was first elected to the German Bundestag in 2002. From 2009 to 2015, he was health policy spokesman for the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag, and from July 2015 to March 2018, he was Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Finance. On March 14, 2018, he was sworn in as Federal Minister of Health. Since the end of 2021, Spahn has been deputy chairman of the parliamentary group and responsible for the economy, energy, climate protection, SMEs and tourism.
