Güner Yasemin Balcı was born in Berlin-Neukölln in 1975. Until 2010, she was a television editor at ZDF, and today she works as a freelance author and television journalist. In 2012, she received the Civis Television Award for her reportage “Tod einer Richterin” (Death of a Judge). Her documentary film “Der Jungfrauenwahn” (The Virginity Craze) (Arte/ZDF) was released in 2016. Balcı is a columnist for the “Stuttgarter Nachrichten” newspaper, and her articles have appeared in “Die Zeit” and “Der Spiegel”, among others. Her political features have been broadcast on “Deutschlandradio” and “Deutschlandfunk”.

Güner Yasemin Balcı's new book is a declaration of love for Germany, but at the same time speaks plainly about the problems of an immigrant society. We look forward to an exciting exchange about, among other things, her growing up in Berlin's Rollberg district, which turned into a social hotspot under reactionary Islam from the 1980s onwards.
