With "Erzählen, was ist" (Telling it like it is), Katrin Eigendorf, the well-known ZDF special correspondent and SPIEGEL bestselling author, presents her most personal book to date. She talks to the Taliban, accompanies Ukrainian soldiers on the front line and tells the stories of courageous women in Afghanistan who teach in underground schools.
Katrin Eigendorf travels to places where the world is in turmoil. The reporter recounts existential, often painful encounters with people whose stories she tells. War can only be reported on from close up, from one's own perspective and with empathy, not from a distance. With great empathy and realism, she makes even complex issues understandable. In doing so, she opens up a variety of perspectives that do not leave us feeling powerless, but rather provide orientation in an increasingly complex world situation.
Katrin Eigendorf is one of Germany's most renowned TV reporters. Since the 1990s, she has been reporting from crisis and war zones around the world, including Ukraine, Russia, Lebanon, Israel and Afghanistan. Eigendorf has been ZDF's international special correspondent since 2022. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize, the Grimme Prize and the "Deutscher Fernsehpreis" (German Television Award) for best personal achievement.
