More than three years ago, Europe landed in the eye of a geopolitical storm: while Russia has unleashed the largest military war of aggression in Europe since the end of the Second World War against Ukraine and violent conflicts in the Middle East seem to have no end in sight, the European-American relationship is increasingly being put to the test.

Can Europe muster the strength to defend its basic democratic order? What could a new European security architecture look like that leaves no nation defenceless against future aggression?
