Short Bio

Haruhiko Kuroda, born in 1944, has been head of Japan’s central bank since March 2013 under Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He gained degrees in economics at the Universities of Tokyo and Oxford and was previously Vice Finance Minister from July 1999 to January 2003, an economic advisor to the Koizumi Cabinet from March 2003 to January 2005, and from February 2005 to March 2013 was President of the Asian Development Bank.
