General David Petraeus

Former Director of the CIA and General of the U.S. Army

Short Bio

David Howell Petraeus, born in 1952, was the director of the CIA from 2011 to 2012 and before that an officer in the United State Army, lastly with the rank of four-star general. From 2002, Petraeus was deployed for several years in high-ranking positions in the Iraq War and the subsequent occupation of Iraq from 2003 to 2011. He was one of the top brains behind the reorientation of US forces towards counterinsurgency. Since May 2013, Petraeus has been working for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR). There he is the chairman of the KKR Global Institute, which has the jobs of carrying out studies and analyses.
