New publication «Krisenmanagement Schweiz» (Crisis Management in Switzerland)

The 4th volume of the publication series "Schriften des Schweizerischen Instituts für Auslandforschung" will be published in June 2023.

Is Switzerland equipped to make the right decisions in times of crisis?

The publication series "Schriften des Schweizerischen Instituts für Auslandforschung" (Papers of the Swiss Institute for International Studies), which was launched in 2015, is dedicated to important challenges and topics of current events in Switzerland and abroad. The aim is to provide orientation in turbulent times. Following essays by Kaspar Villiger, Walter B. Kielholz and Gerhard Schwarz, an anthology is now being published, supervised by Georg Häsler, Patrick Hofstetter, Bruno Staffelbach, and Kaspar Villiger, whose focus is self-evident. Nothing else is on the agenda but "Crisis Management in Switzerland", given the challenging and special developments of the past years and months.

Switzerland is not used to crises. The emergency has taken place elsewhere – until now. But with the Covid-19 pandemic, the Russian war of aggression on Ukraine, and the associated questions about Swiss neutrality, it has become clear that this calm and security is over.

Are Switzerland and its citizens equipped to make the right decisions in times of crisis? Are our political, economic, and social leaders prepared to develop medium- and long-term perspectives for successful self-preservation?

These and similar questions are addressed in this anthology, which features a number of experts and repeatedly brings up uncomfortable truths.
