The international order is changing, and not without impact on Europe. Peace, freedom and prosperity in Europe depend on the stability of the international order, which Russia, China and other actors are systematically challenging.
The talk will approach the various dimensions of the geopolitical changes, analyse the new conflict order and its consequences for Europe and develop answers as to how Europe should position itself.

Dr Claudia Major has been a member of the executive team of the independent US think tank The German Marshall Fund as Senior Vice President for Transatlantic Security since March 2025. She researches, advises and publishes on security and defence policy issues in Germany, Europe and in the transatlantic context.
Previously, she headed the Security Policy Research Group at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin and worked at the Centre for Security Studies at ETH Zurich, the EU Institute for Security Studies (Paris), the German Federal Foreign Office and Sciences Po Paris. She is a member of various committees, such as the Advisory Board on Innere Führung of the Ministry of Defence. She studied at the Free University of Berlin and Sciences Po Paris and holds a doctorate from the University of Birmingham.
Claudia Major was made a Knight of the French Order of Merit (Chevalier dans l'ordre national du Mérite) and is a recipient of the Estonian Order of Merit.
