Global reinsurers act as a safety net for insurers and thus also those insured. Global reinsurers, even more than insurers, must therefore focus on the entire world – with its upheavals, its risks, but also its opportunities. In view of the current crises and foreseeable challenges – from pandemics to food and energy shortages to global warming – it is important not only to be prepared for emergencies, but also to take precautions and strengthen the resilience of all players.

Where do the biggest risks of climate change lie? How can supply chain problems be addressed, and what does creeping deglobalization mean for the global economy? Finally, what diagnosis does a reinsurer make when they refer not only to inflation but also to “social inflation”? Martin Meyer talks to Sergio Ermotti about these and other questions.
